Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join The University of Vermont Health Network as a PACU Nurse. As part of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing pre and post-anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. Your responsibilities will include patient assessment, planning, care delivery, and outcome evaluation. The position requires proficiency in areas such as pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, post-procedure critical assessment, pain management, and patient/family education.

Responsibilities

• Assure comprehensive perioperative care for patients throughout their surgical experience.
• Become proficient in at least two of the three areas: Operating Room Circulating Nurse, Pre/Post Nurse, or Endoscopy Nurse.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Valid Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
• Completion of CVPH critical care course or passing a challenge exam within six months.
• Minimum two years of medical/surgical nursing experience; Critical Care experience is preferred.
• ACLS required; PALS certification within 12 months.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficient in IV therapy and venipuncture.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
