Job Description

Discover Financial Services is looking for an Application Engineer to join their Digital Payments team. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in building and releasing reliable software systems at scale. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze, design, and deploy new features, and provide oversight on design decisions to achieve key results. If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering, and proficiency in Java and cloud-based technologies, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your career.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, program, test, and deploy new features.
• Mentor Associate Application Engineers and guide team to achieve results.
• Drive technology communities at Discover.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
• Technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale (internal applicants).

Bonus Points

• Experience in legacy modernization projects.
• Strong Java and cloud-based technology experience.
• Design and support Kafka clusters for event-driven architecture.
• Design and deploy application and infrastructure pipelines.
• Problem-solving skills with a forward-thinking approach to automation.
